Wupperthal (again) is close to my heart. I first went to the village in the mid-1980s, as detailed somewhere else on this website, and in my book, Too White to be Coloured Too Coloured to be Black a hybrid memoir. The area north of the Swartberg, beyond the Cederberg, where Wupperthal lies in the Tatra Valley, all the way to the Namibian border has always been my favourite part of South Africa. It was one of the places to which I escaped for solitude in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
This video is a wonderful introduction to the place and its people. Video sourced from Natural Justice.
