A few years ago I quit Facebook, and by the end of this year I will be off Twitter. Two main reasons for leaving twitter is that it is becoming a rather toxic platform. I will miss the deeply insightful posts and discussions by friends I hold dear, but I can always go to their blogs or their work to keep up with discussions. Second, I need to clear my desk, my calendar and get some focus for some of the plans I have started making for the next two years. I I will stay on instagram @instalagardien because of photography, but I am getting a bit tired of all the ads and video clips of music (Taylor Swift) and sitcoms (Friends) that I really am not interested in – that’s besides the schmaltzy rubbish.
I will spend the first four or five months of 2022 on finalising a memoir – it has already been written and is in the final design and proofing stages – which I expect will be published in March. I guess the six or eight weeks after publication will be spent on the marketing stuff.

Beyond May I have a larger project that I will be working on (I will continue writing my columns for Business Day the Daily Maverick and Vryeweekblad) which requires a lot of planning. It is also highly contingent on progress made with curbing the spread of Covid-19, and opening of borders.
For now the project has to remain under wraps because of all the uncertainty around it.
